The return of an item if you change your mind and no longer want the item is the responsibility of the buyer, the buyer is liable for the cost of returning the goods, undamaged and in a re-saleable condition.

Upon SeaCoal receiving the original item back, a new piece can be made and additional shipping costs for the new item will need to be paid before the replacement is shipped.

If for any reason you are un-happy with your purchase, upon receiving the item in an undamaged, re-saleable condition a full return will be made.

Freshwater pearls are soft compared to most semi precious gemstones and are organic in nature.

They tarnish easily destroying the lustre and brilliance of the pearl. It is important to take special care of your pearls to make sure they remain bright and beautiful for many years to come.

Always put your pearls on last after applying makeup and perfume as these will dull the surface over time, even acids in body oils and perspiration can damage lustre so remove before exercise or strenuous activity.

Keep away from chemicals and other jewellery as it they could scratch the surface of your pearl. Store in a lined jewellery boxes specifically for your pearls.

It may be a good idea to wipe down fresh water pearls with a soft cloth after they have been worn.

To clean freshwater pearls use a soft damp cloth only, abrasive chemicals or brushes will damage the pearl and reduce lustre.

Silk should be kept dry at all times to avoid damage, silk is subject to wear and tear and oils and outside factors will weaken the silk holding your pearls together, if worn often your silk should be replaced on a yearly basis, if only worn on occasion we would recommend a restring every 1-2 years. At SeaCoal we are able to re-string your pearls for you for a small cost.

Pearl and silk jewellery should not be stored hanging as this will increase the stretching of the silk. Stored flat in an airtight lined jewellery box specifically for your freshwater pearls.

Your silk will stretch over time especially if the pearls are a long or heavy strand. The silk will also discolour as silk can't be washed it needs to be replaced as oils, skin and irritants will build up on the silk.

Any items weighing below 7.7g of silver or 1g of gold are sold without hallmarks.

Items are weighed before any stones are set and will be hallmarked as per the UK hallmarking act 1973.

Hallmarking can be added to some items (size dependant) for an additional cost.
